European Vacation – The Boring Way!

I’ve already watched this movie about a thousand times in preparation for this.  Yes, as is the tradition with almost all high school graduating classes, mine is also planning a trip to Europe; a trip which I will obviously be partaking in.  Anyway, we honestly have about a 50/50 student/parent ratio, and we’re going on one of those “No Free Time Ever” type of tours, so I’m afraid this won’t be as fun as it could be.  After all, it’s not like going to Europe is an everyday thing, so I don’t really want to spend my time there running around seeing all of the generic touristy stuff like Big Ben and Parliament the entire time.  Also, we’re suppose to start the moment we get there, so I’m going to be jet-lagged as fuck.

So, because I’m not lugging my laptop around with me everywhere I go (I’m not even sure they’d let me if I wanted to), I will pretty much be without access to the internet for ten days or so.  So that means I’m going to be missing two episodes of Fate/Zero, which also means a huge-ass marathon when I get back to catch up on it, so at least I have that part of it to look forward to.

Aniblog Tourney Vistor Post Thing-a-ma-jig

In hindsight, I almost certainly should have waited to post my original “Vote For Me” propaganda post today, since this is actually the day that I’m “playing” so to speak.  Anyway, a lot of other blogs have had a post like this ready for their site when their turn in the tourney rolled around, so I assumed I should make one as well.

  1. I have seen every MST3K episode at least fifty times

  2. I can sing all of Alice’s Restaurant, because my family thinks it’s a good Thanksgiving tradition.

  3. I live in Mississippi, so consider the fact that I have a halfway-decent vocabulary astonishing.

  4. I am a badass.

  5. Pavement was better than The Smashing Pumpkins.

Actually, those are supposed to be posts that I’ve written and stuff…

  1. Mawaru Penquindrum Plot Map

  2. How to Film a Harem/Ecchi Anime

  3. One Year Anniversary

  4. Bakemonogatari Review

  5. Orignal Tourney Post

So, yeah, obviously you should go to the Aniblog Tourney site and vote for me.

Obligatory Aniblog Tourney Post

Actually, I hadn’t much planned on writing anything about this, but then the official announcement came out and they’re all like, “Write a post telling readers to vote for you”, which kind of sounds like asking people to click your website’s advertisements, but I guess that’s a little bit more serious than this.  But anyway, I’m participating in this thing, and decided to take this bone they threw me and tell you to vote for me, because, even if you don’t know it, I’ve implanted a tiny undetectable bomb in each of your computers that will detonate if you chose the wrong person (obviously whoever isn’t me) and blow you to smithereens.

I’m somewhere near the middle of the green section, up against Beneath The Tangles, an interesting type of anime blog (regardless of whether I believe in the owner’s religious convictions or not) focusing on Christianity and anime.  But dammit, it’s just my luck to get put up against someone who actually has something different going, while I just do review type stuff.

One Year Later

Well, sweet baby Jesus, I can’t believe that I’ve been doing this for an entire year now.  Yes, way back in the Stone Age that was March 2011, this blog was born out of the ashes of my boredom and sickness.  With it being spring break at the time, I didn’t have much else to do other than relax and be glad that I wasn’t in school.  However, the fact that I was terribly sick at the time didn’t make it that amazing of an experience (the fact that I had been going to bed at around 3:00 AM and waking up around 1:00 PM probably didn’t help either) .  Anyway, at that time I pretty much camped out in my home’s upstairs multipurpose/entertainment room and did nothing but play video games, watch movies from Netflix, and obviously watch copious amounts of anime.  Although I had watched anime on the internet for a few years before this, I had never really followed any shows while they were airing.  Only about two years I began watching new anime weekly (starting with Bakemonogatari), and began to get an idea for when they came out and about the new seasons of anime that started every three months.  I suppose my lack of actually knowing anybody who watched anime is what really spurred me on to create this blog in the first place.

On to the real stuff though.  I can’t begin to express how awesome doing this has been and how much fun I’ve had.  Through doing this I have found several other amazing fans of anime; people who are intelligent, nice, and hilarious.  I’ve always believed that the people you meet on the internet are much more truthful with their personality and beliefs (not necessarily their real life), because no one can really judge you for it.  Besides, if they do, then who gives a shit, it’s just the internet, you can say/do whatever you want (Fuck SOPA by the way).  Anime fandom is really a unique think to be involved in far more ways that I can even begin to describe, which is one of the reasons I chose to start this blog for anime other than anything else.  If you have ever commented on anything here, if you (for some bizarre reason) subscribed to this blog, or hell – if you’re looking at this right now and have never been here before in your life, I want to thank you times infinity.  I look forward to continue this on for as long as I can muster then patience to write stuff and the desire to watch anime.  See you all soon.

And this picture, because my posts feel naked if they don’t have one.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika – Final Episodes

I know, right?

FINALLY, Dear God, thought shaft had forgotten us.  So in approximately one week the last two episodes of Mahou Shoujo Madoka, or Puella Magi Madoka Magica, or Magic Mage Magical Madoka Magicka Magi, or whatever the hell else you want to call it, will finally air on April 21.  Holy St. Peter, I’m ready for this shit, and honestly want to punch Shaft in the face for making me wait for more Kyubey 1337n3ss.

Predictions: I’ve got money on this, Madoka makes some wish to sacrifice herself and save everyone, because she’s like that.

OOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Everything happens like in the flashback, and the end starts Homura’s cycle all over again

Callin’ it

Spring 2011 Anime

So , the month of April is upon us, and with that comes the start of the spring anime season. I’m actually quite surprised at the number of titles, that I actually want to check out, but like always I’m sure the number that I actually care about will decrease greatly.

Watch Worthy List:

Kaiji 2: Hakairoku Hen

After graduating from high school in 1996 in Japan, Itō Kaiji moves to Tokyo to get a job, but he fails to find steady employment because of his eccentric disposition and because the country is mired in its first recession since World War II. Depressed, he festers in his apartment, biding his time with cheap pranks, gambling, liquor and cigarettes. Kaiji is always thinking about money and his perpetual poverty frequently brings him to tears. Kaiji’s unrelenting misery continues for two years until he is paid an unexpected visit from a man named Endō, who wants to collect an outstanding debt owed to him in Kaiji’s name.

The World God Only Knows II –

The second season of The World Only God Knows, which now has over 9000 chapters and still growing. I actually liked the manga and anime at first, but after so long of the same thing, it just gets boring. About a dating-sim game obsessed boy who has to apply his skills in the 2D world to extract demons from the hearts of real girls. Follows the same episodic format as the first season; find girl with demon, sex her up, make out, catch said demon in giant magical jar.

Steins;Gate –

Based off of a visual novel of the same name. Now, I liked Chaos;Head and this being somehow  involved with it’s story, (either a sequel or prequel, I’m not sure) I’m sure I’ll like it as well.  About a group of friends who create a device that can send text messages to the past out of a frackin microwave (Que?). Now they are being targeted and threatened by a secret organization, whose motives are a mystery.

Deadman Wonderland –

When Ganta’s whole class got massacred by a mysterious monster, he as the sole suspect is quickly sentenced to life imprisonment in the twisted Deadman Wonderland prison where the staged fights between prisoners are broadcasted on national television. (Madworld, anyone?)

A Channel –

Hey, look everybody, it’s Lucky Star season 3! Lololololol, just kidding, but it sure looks like it though right? Based of a four-panel comic strip, four girls with generic personalities, a comedy set at a high school… my case is now at rest.  I’m really not so sure about this one, as I haven’t been feeling the “schoolgirl comedy” for a while, oh and by the way,  K-on! sucks more than your mom.

Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko –

Further proof there are no good Titles anymore (literally means Electrical Wave Woman and Young Man). A boy goes to live with his aunt where he meets his cousin C.C., I mean Erio. See has been missing for nearly a year and a half, and claims that she was abducted by aliens. She now spends her days eating pizza, walking around in a futon, and being weird.

Gintama 2

ZOMFG FINALLY!!!! Obviously a second season to Gintama, will probably be awesome. Probably the only good thing Shounen Jump has ever done. The story of GinTama takes place in Edo (known today as Tokyo because of its name change in 1868), Japan, which was conquered by aliens called Amanto in the late Edo period. The samurai of Japan fought the aliens, but after their defeat the Amanto placed a ban on carrying swords in public. Gintoki, Shimura , Kagura, and Sadaharu are back to make me lol.

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai

This title literally translates to “We Still Don’t Know the Name of the Flower We Saw that Day” which further supports my point about not having any good, or for that matter normal, titles anymore.  Thankfully we can just call it AnoHana. The series follows Jintan, a shut-in, who gets a request to fulfill a wish of one of this childhood friends, Menma. In order to grant Menma’s wish, Jintan must find and reunite with four other friends who have grown apart since graduating high school.

Sket Dance –

I haven’t read this manga in a while, and don’t remember much, but I do know that I liked it. About a group of high-schoolers who spend their free time helping others as part of their club activity.

Not an otaku

Welcome to my non-otaku anime themed blog, home of anime reviews and news in a non-fanboyish light.  For as long as I have been a fan of anime, I have tried to stay away form the life of fanboyism.  I shunned Romance AMVs and scoffed at anime such as Bleach and Naruto, with their ridiculous plots, and underdeveloped characters; instead, I found enjoyment of the true anime.  Shows such as Cowboy Bebop and Evangelion were the anime of my childhood, and as a result, I crave anime with good story and characters, and fortunately have found some deliverance from the OMFGKAWAIIDESU~!!!!1!ONE!! of todays time in anime such as Eden of the East and Bakemonogatari. I will be keeping up with new anime starting with the spring season of 2011. I plan to make posts of my first impressions as well as reviews and news on the shows as the finish. Obviously, hilarity will ensue and everyone will have a good laugh and be more informed at the end of the day.
