Dog Days Episode 1 – First Impressions
[Insert Florence and the Machine joke here] OK, now that that’s out of the way, let’s get on to the matter at hand, the beginning of the 2011 spring anime season. It seems kind of weird to open up with this, not that it’s necessarily terrible, but an odd choice nonetheless. So, this anime is about a meat-headed athlete-fag boy named Shinku. Seriously, he complains about Japan because there aren’t enough places to exercise, what a nOOb. Meanwhile in the Republic of Biscotti (om nom nom nom), some alternate realm fantasy world, Kawaii desu~ dog-girls are being attacked by cat-people, which they don’t too much care for. So, the most kawaii desu cat-girl (the princess) decides to SUMMON A HERO ZOMFG! So, Chuck Norris comes and kills everything, takes over Biscotti and raises them from the dead to be his slaves… no not really. Obviously, Shinku is brought to this world where he is enlisted to fight on behalf of the Republic of Biscotti against the Galette Leo Knights. But, just one thing… NO ONE CAN DIE IN THE WAR!!!! WTF?!?!?!?! According to Kawaii-Desu-Hime-Sama killing is dishonorable, or some BS like that. So instead of death when the cat-people “die”, the turn into little chibi cat-head things… whatever Japan. You, know, I might have actually liked watching this, if not for the fact that (at present) there’s no real danger to anybody or anything, except “depression”. Artworks fine and all that, but the opening fails.
